Comparison Settings - Hidden Power Features

💡 Pro Tip: The Comparison Settings panel is collapsed by default to keep the interface clean. Click "Comparison Settings" to reveal powerful options that handle messy data automatically.

🔤 Text Processing Settings

Case Sensitivity

Controls whether "Apple", "APPLE", and "apple" are treated as the same item or different items.

When ON (case sensitive): "Apple" ≠ "apple" ≠ "APPLE" (3 different items)
When OFF (ignore case): "Apple" = "apple" = "APPLE" (1 item)

Best for: Product names, brand names, proper nouns

Ignore Leading/Trailing Spaces

Automatically trims whitespace from the beginning and end of each item.

When ON: " John Smith " → "John Smith"
When OFF: " John Smith " ≠ "John Smith" (different items)

Best for: Data copied from spreadsheets, databases, or manual entry

Compress Multiple Spaces

Converts multiple consecutive spaces into single spaces within items.

When ON: "John Smith" → "John Smith"
When OFF: "John Smith" ≠ "John Smith" (different items)

Best for: Cleaning up inconsistent data formatting

Ignore Leading Zeroes

Treats numbers with leading zeros as equivalent to the same number without zeros.

When ON: "007" = "7" = "0007" (same item)
When OFF: "007" ≠ "7" ≠ "0007" (different items)

Best for: Product codes, employee IDs, account numbers, ZIP codes

📊 Display & Output Settings

Line Numbering

Adds sequential numbers to each item in the results for easy reference.

When ON:
1. Apple
2. Banana
3. Cherry
When OFF:
Apple
Banana
Cherry

Best for: Documentation, reports, presentations, large datasets

🔄 Sorting & Transformation

Sorting Options

Controls the order of items in all result sections.

No Sort: Items appear in original input order
A → z: Alphabetical order (Apple, Banana, Cherry)
z → A: Reverse alphabetical (Cherry, Banana, Apple)

Best for: A-Z for easy scanning, Z-A for priority items, No Sort for chronological data

Text Transform

Converts all items to a consistent text format in the results.

No Change: "John Smith" → "John Smith"
Capitalize: "john smith" → "John Smith"
UPPERCASE: "John Smith" → "JOHN SMITH"
lowercase: "John Smith" → "john smith"

Best for: Standardizing output format, preparing data for import into other systems
